The Cheerful Mikayla is Back

Something was obviously wrong with Mikayla, who was one year old, at the Christmas of 2020. She looked pallid. She had no desire to play or eat. Even when being teased, she remained silent. She received multiple blood transfusions while hospitalized after blood tests revealed an extremely low hemoglobin level. She was cheered by these, but only momentarily. After that, Mikayla’s bone marrow biopsy revealed she had blood cancer. There are experiences, I think, in human life where we run out of tears, and that was one of them. -Juan Manuel, Mikayla’s father Families, like Mikayla’s, will never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food. Mikayla was referred to St. Jude where her cancer was identified as acute myeloid leukemia. Around this time, her great-grandmother received a certificate of appreciation for supporting St. Jude, to which she had donated for more than a decade. It seemed like a sign of hope. Mikayla successfully underwent chemotherapy. She is now finished with treatment and doing well. Mikayla’s grandmother says, “Our Mikayla is back!” We are on a mission to raise $25K for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital this year! Your Referrals HELP!
